Hong Kong walks rarely stay clean. A quick loop turns into a downpour, the trail up to the reservoir is half mud, and by the time you're home your dog's collar is soaked through. Fabric collars hold all of it, including the smell that shows up two days later.

Doggu started as a small studio in Bangkok, near ICONSIAM, hand-painting charms for pet owners who wanted their dog's gear to look like it belonged to somebody. Sport Club is that same eye applied to hardware you actually use every day.

The webbing on this water-resistant dog collar is coated, so water sits on the surface instead of soaking in. When your dog comes back from Shek O caked in wet sand, you hold the collar under the tap for ten seconds and the sand goes. There's no soak, no wash cycle, no waiting for it to stop smelling like a wet towel.

It dries fast enough to matter. In Hong Kong's summer humidity a nylon collar can stay damp against the neck all afternoon, which is how skin irritation starts under a thick coat. This one is dry by the time you've towelled your dog off, so it goes straight back on.

The rest is built for daily handling. The side-release buckle opens with one hand when your other hand is holding a lead and a poo bag, the strap adjusts along its length as a puppy grows, and the D-ring sits flat so an ID tag isn't swinging into your dog's chin. Every collar carries the round cream Sport Club crest, moulded in rubber and sitting flat against the strap.

The matching leash runs 150 cm in the same coated webbing, with a matte zinc alloy snap hook that won't seize up after a wet walk. Pink is the tennis club, soft rose webbing against a lime buckle and a deep green ring. Green is the golf club, a quieter course-green with mint hardware. Blue is the bowling lane, pale sky webbing with a butter-yellow buckle and a coral ring. Each collar wears the round cream Sport Club crest, while the leashes carry the themed patches: a hand-drawn "see you on the court" on the pink, and "Lucky Strike!" with the pins going down on the blue.
